3 Lajitas Lizard Day
1 begins with chapter 3, "Lajitas Lizard". In the Day 1
section of BioTheology: Dancing with God in
the Desert, we will discuss the
directions of Center and North. Chapter 3 is the first chapter of this section. We will meet Lajitas Lizard, a small lizard that visits me several times each day during my Vision Quest. You will also meet for the first time, the Bandido. In this chapter I start my Quest, setting up my Quest site and settling into the heat and solitude that surrounds me. Several topics are discussed, including the seven directions, lizard medicine, the ceremony used to establish the site, duality, background on Vision Quests in general, and the death/rebirth cycle of creativity. The chapter closes with me late into the night thinking about God as the panoramic vision of the night sky and desert around me fills my senses.
