Mustang Medicine Works, LLCSeminars and Workshops
Scheduled Programs for Fall 2010--Continuing Education for Licensed Professional Counselors and Social WorkersIntroduction to Equine Assisted CounselingCome out and experience the horses, have fun, and get CEU's for it!
Learn and experience the therapeutic power of the horse. We use the
EAGALA model, a solution oriented, team approach in which the client
works with the horses on the ground. (No riding. This is not therapeutic riding.) Great for your stuck or resistant clients?
The
first hour will be for background on the Equine Assisted Growth and
Learning Association (EAGALA) model, Equine Assisted Counseling,
introductions, and answering questions. We will then work with the
horses for about 1.5 hrs, followed by a 30 minute processing and Q
& A time.

Psychobiology of Adolescent Mind-Body Healing: Gene Expression, Neurobiology, Archetypes, Equine Assisted Therapy In
the morning session, we will examine the psychobiology and role of
genes, neurogenesis, mirror neurons, and neural development in the
mental health therapeutic process. We will then relate these to
developmental imprinting and Jungian archetypes.
In the
afternoon session, we will discuss the above in relation to mental
health disorders and present an archetypal model, Angeles Arriens' Four-Fold Way,
for working with clients. Disorders will include, post-traumatic
stress, attention deficit hyperactivity, Asperger's syndrome,
non-verbal learning disability, attachment, adoption, and others as
time permits.
Finally, what are your challenges in working
with teens? What are your own issues (counter transferences, projections?)
that come up when working with teens? You will have an opportunity to
work on these questions using equine assisted therapy in an
experiential component of the workshop. Date: Thursday, October 21, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
